World of Warcraft Profession Guides

Another gathering profession that has the ability to make you a huge amount of gold is Mining. With the Mining profession, you will have to the opportunity to craft armor, potions, weapons, and jewels.

Mining works well with three other professions which are Blacksmithing, Engineering, and Jewelcrafting. With Blacksmithing, everything that you will need to make is done by first mining. This also applies to Jewelcrafting as well as Engineering, everything that you need will have to be mined.

These three professions will suit you the best with Mining. Keep in mind that with these professions, if you elect against mining, you will be responsible to purchase your metals and gems which will be fairly expensive. Remember that Mining is a primary skill and you can have only one other primary profession, keep this in mind when choosing to learn or unlearn.

To get your mining career off to an actual start you will have to be trained. First you will need to buy a Mining Pick, which should remain with you at all times. Then find a trainer which should be pretty easy to find, as they are located in several cities.

One of the bonuses of choosing Mining as one primary profession is that it comes with Find Minerals and Smelting. These two things will benefit you abundantly along the way. With Find Minerals this is a skill that will show you on the radar where there are mineral deposits and how close they are. Smelting will assist in converting your ore into metals that are usable.

Skills 1-65—Copper

This will be for the most part pretty short and sweet, as this is the easiest metal to find and mine. If you would like you can choose to just buy the copper and move on to the next skill. You can look for copper in the starting areas and the lower level zones. Some areas to keep in mind are Loch Modan, Durotar, Dun Morogh and the Northern areas of the Barrens.

Skills 65-125—Tin

Collecting tin is generally easy and should not give you much of a problem. If anything it may become a bit more difficult as you get higher through the levels. Look for the tin at the auctions, as you may be able to find a good and cheap deal on it.

Skills 125-175—Iron

There are several zones to gather Iron, listed here are some: Hillsbrad Foothills, Searing George, Arathi Highlands, Desolace, Duskwood, Tanaris, Thousand Needles, and Swamp of Sorrows.

Skills 175-250—Mithril

Listed here are zones to find Mithril: Thousand Needles, Western Plaguelands, Stranglethorn Vale, Dustwallow Marsh, Azshara, Alterac Mountains, Felwood, Hillsbrad Foothills, Silithus, and Feralas.

Here you will want to look for thorium veins. These will help you get a lot of gold and get that gold quickly!

Skills 250-300—Thorium

Again, here is the list of places to mine: Winterspring, Azshara, Un’goro Crater, Burning Steppes, Searing George, Eastern Plaguelands, and Blasted Lands.
